Op Broken Accord 05 - 2026/09/12

Situation

During OP 04, British forces successfully secured Foreign Affairs Minister Idris Aden. Strike Team 1 from 40 Commando sustained significant casualties during engagements with advancing KDF forces. Aden remains in British custody and has begun providing intelligence on KDF and KGC leadership activity. His recovery has denied Yusuf Gedi access to the government funds and foreign aid accounts that hostile forces intended to obtain through Aden's authority and credentials.

Yusuf Gedi continues to exercise de facto authority over the remaining government following the deaths of President Samir Noor and General Malik Omar. The loss of access to these funds restricts his ability to sustain the civilian administration, but military funding and equipment availability remain high. The government's financial position has therefore not produced a corresponding reduction in the immediate KDF threat. Gedi's location remains unknown. Lieutenant General Hassan Nadim, the last identified KDF Vice Chief, also remains unlocated; his current command arrangements have not been confirmed.

British access to the KDF communications network, established during OP 02, provided intelligence on KGC use of military systems and the hostile command structure. Intercepted traffic included Omar's warning to Aden that KDF channels could no longer be trusted. The KDF has now detected British taps on their networks. Previously monitored sites have progressively ceased network activity while new positions have appeared near the frontline. These positions are avoiding the compromised infrastructure, reducing British visibility of their orders, strength and reinforcement activity.

The newly established positions at OBJ Bastion Alpha and OBJ Bastion Bravo form part of this change in posture. Both are awaiting reinforcements as hostile KDF elements move personnel and equipment towards the frontline and commit more directly to KGC operations. Bastion Bravo contains a defended headquarters, with associated KDF patrols and defensive positions identified at POI Bastion Romeo, POI Bastion Juliett and POI Bastion Victor. The new deployments indicate that hostile forces retain the resources to establish and defend forward positions despite the disruption to government finances.

A KDF long-range surface-to-air missile site has moved south to an airfield and is designated OBJ Pike. Its radar covers the maritime approaches and provides support to other nearby air-defence assets. The airfield has at least light entrenchments. This deployment threatens British aviation over the coastal approaches, while the associated air-defence assets may retain an engagement capability independently of the radar at Pike.

Bashir remains at large and has assumed command of the KGC following the murder of Jabir Musa. Communications recovered from the Dayr Hafir headquarters during OP 03 recorded Bashir admitting that his men killed Musa, declaring his command of the KGC and threatening a KDF commander who questioned his authority. Separate material recovered near Al Nabq confirmed preparations to destroy evidence of Omar's murder and attribute the attack to Kamira Renewal. Together, these findings established KGC involvement in the removal of senior leaders and its use of KDF facilities and communications.

Captain Salahuddin Zabifari, second-in-command of the KDF headquarters at Dayr Hafir, was captured by 40 Commando during OP 03. Reporting from Zabifari and Aden has identified a KGC safehouse used by Bashir and KDF leadership while planning the attacks against the peace talks. Its exact location remains unknown, but their verbal accounts place it near Mount Nufur. Satellite imagery has identified a small cluster of buildings without road access as a possible match, designated OBJ Veil. The site's identity and current occupants are unconfirmed. Bashir is considered unlikely to be present, although he may still use the location as a refuge.

Within Kamira Renewal, Ahmed Nuru remains the surviving political leader and a supporter of negotiations, but his current location and recent movements are unknown. Karim Ismail remains missing following the compromised attempt to return him to Renewal during OP 02. He is presumed dead at this time. Aden's recovery restores access to a surviving government representative.

Acknowledgements

  • Refer to the situation report for detailed information on known factions and identification images.
  • Operations will take place in full daylight.
  • Civilian presence is high in Al-sofea, moderate in most large towns and low in towns around the objective POIs.
  • Other air-defence assets may remain operational after OBJ Pike's radar is destroyed.
  • OBJ Veil is a suspected safehouse location. Bashir's presence is considered unlikely.

Commanders intent

The intent of this operation is to dismantle the newly established hostile KDF positions at OBJ Bastion Alpha and OBJ Bravo before they can be reinforced, denying their use in support of KGC and KDF operations. Success will disrupt the forward command presence and remove the long-range air-defence threat at OBJ Pike. The suspected safehouse at OBJ Veil is to be investigated, with Bashir captured and detained if present.
