Op Toxon 02 - 2026/05/09
Situation
Following exploitation of intelligence recovered during the last deployment, the location of the attacked Toska convoy has now been narrowed down and confirmed. The ambush site is assessed to be approximately 600 metres outside the town of Mazri, placing it close enough to local civilian movement routes that witnesses, scavengers, or militia spotters may have interacted with the site after the attack. This makes the area around the convoy a priority for investigation, both to establish what was taken or destroyed, and to identify any signs of the group responsible.
Mushorah Airbase has now been secured, but it remains far from operational. The airbase is still undergoing repair and consolidation after its abandonment, hostile occupation, and subsequent clearance. The wider area remains unstable, and Mushorah town requires a focused clearance patrol to identify any IEDs, abandoned weapons, or militia elements left behind during the fighting. Al Qanat also remains a concern, as elements of OBJ Lockstep Bravo were not fully completed during OP 01. While most hostile forces are assessed to have fled following the failed defence of the airfield, remaining fighters may still be present in small numbers, either hiding among the population, stripping abandoned positions, or attempting to recover equipment before further operations against them in the area.
Logistics convoys began crossing the border overnight to push immediate supplies into the area, taking advantage of reduced civilian movement and lower visibility. Those movements have now halted at first light due to the increased presence of civilians on the roads and around the crossing points. This pause is necessary to reduce the risk of collateral incidents, but it also leaves parts of the logistics chain exposed and slows the flow of repair material, fuel, and sustainment needed to bring the airbase closer to operational use. Local security forces and crossing authorities remain a concern, as previous assessments indicate that movements through the region are likely being observed, reported, or compromised by militia-linked personnel.
Recovered intel indicates that at least one group was operating in or around Misharah City and intended to move recovered rocket Hiluxes back into the city after bypassing police checkpoints and river bridges. At this stage it is unknown whether that group is still in Misharah expecting to receive the vehicles, whether they abandoned the effort and left the city after 40 Commando disrupted the handover, or whether they have gone to ground elsewhere inside the city. Their instructions to conceal markings and avoid bridges suggest a group with some awareness of local security patterns and the ability to move equipment discreetly through the area. This makes Misharah a likely point of interest for later follow-up, particularly if evidence from Mazri or the convoy site confirms that missing supplies or weapons have been redirected there.
Acknowledgements
- Operating elements should expect irregular contact with ambushes and sudden engagements rather than defined frontline.
- Local security forces and authorities may be compromised or report our presence, limiting operational secrecy.
- Civilian presence is dense in and around towns, increasing the likelihood of militia blending into populated areas.
- Civilian sentiment may vary by area and/or city, with some populations tolerant or hostile to our presence.
Commanders intent
Intent of this operation is to secure Mushorah Airbase and its surrounding approaches while beginning the investigation into the attacked Toska convoy near Mazri. Operating units are to clear remaining threats, search for IEDs, and exploit the convoy site and nearby civilian areas for evidence. The wider priority is to begin tracing the missing supplies and suspected chemical material before they can be moved deeper into the militia network or worse, out of the region.
