Op Borealis 01 - 2026/01/24

Situation

The planned peace conference between the standing Sahrani Government and the Sahrani Liberation Army to be held in Finland has been intervened by Liberation Army Extremists. Sporadic reports of insurgents taking up positions across the provincial area the conference was to be held in has been confirmed with first responders and military troops sustaining heavy contact within the first 72 hours of the response.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed credible intelligence British mediators in attendance to the conference remain unaccounted for, despite military and police blockades, the extremists have secured key transit pipelines out of the area including; the Nakarinmäki regional airport, the city of Virojoki and MSR route(s) spanning to the west.

Finland has approved the deployment of a British forces previously operating in Germany on Op Veritable to Harvajanniemi military air station with the primary objective to secure any Britons within the area of conflict and assist in countering the SLA invasion in the southern region.

Finish Defence Intelligence Agency (FDIA) personnel responsible for the overseeing the peace conference have confirmed reports of Daniel Ortiz and Luis Martin Diaz being captured by Extremist forces during the assault however exact locations and the extremists intent with them is unknown at this time.

• CIVPOP in small towns have likely retreated to larger towns and cities for safety. Engagements around this areas should take care to avoid civilian casualties.
• British mediators in attendance to the conference remain unaccounted for but intelligence suggests they are still alive and weren't caught in the extremist assaults

Commanders intent

The intent of this operation is to rapidly locate and secure all British nationals, particularly the unaccounted mediators, while denying SLA extremist forces the ability to manoeuvre and reinforce by seizing key transit routes and infrastructure in southern Finland; in parallel, UK forces will support Finnish authorities through targeted actions and intelligence-led operations to disrupt extremist command and logistics with minimal civilian impact, enabling Finnish authorities to reassert full control of the region.

• [OBJ Rune Alpha] Raid the SLA held port and dismantle the anti air positions defending the eastern coastline
• [OBJ Rune Bravo] Dismantle the anti-air positions threatening the north western approaches
• [OBJ Ymir] Raid the town of Hanski, locate the anti-ship equipment and destroy it.

1st Battalion, Mercian Regiment

• [AO Bravo] Deploy to AO Bravo.
• [OBJ Grit Alpha] Patrol the town of Klamila, counter any SLA recce elements then secure the temporary FOB location
• [OBJ Grit Bravo] Secure the crossroads, checkpoint and surrounding area with confirmed SLA activity.

Joint Aviation Command

• [OBJ Grit Alpha] Provide transport to deploy 1Mercian to HLS Cromwell
• [OBJ Rune Alpha] Helocast 40Cdo and Rhiccs to support assault on the first anti-air site
