Op Borealis 05 - 2026/02/21

Situation

WIPWith the recovery of the two British diplomats, Ellwood and Shaw and one of the two Sahrani government officials, operational focus can now fully transition from personnel recovery to the engagement of SLA extremists in the remaining held territory. The immediate requirement is the systematic dismantling of supporting assets defending and securing avenues of approach to Virojoki city and Nakar airfield finally enabling Finnish authorities to reassert full control without further extremist interference.

Diplomatic channels between the UK, US, European partners and the Kingdom of Sahrani have stalled following the death of Luis Martin Diaz during direct action in OP 04. His loss has complicated political engagement and introduced friction at the strategic level, increasing the importance of achieving clear military progress on the ground to prevent further deterioration in relations.

Although the structure housing equipment at OBJ Icegrid was destroyed during OP 04, post-strike analysis and updated reporting from the Finnish government indicate the SLA were attempting to exploit financial and state-run fibre infrastructure. National systems and regional banking networks have been alerted and are reviewing access logs to determine intent and extent of any possible compromise. OBJ Hardline now identifies fibre distribution nodes within SLA-held areas for reference; however, there is currently no confirmed intelligence of active extremist presence or exploitation at those specific nodes.

  • Refer to the situation report for detailed information on known factions and identification.
  • CIVPOP are friendly and should be cooperative with many of them fleeing to safety of nearby towns and police.
  • CIVPOP in small towns have likely retreated to larger towns and cities for safety. Engagements around this areas should take care to avoid civilian casualties.

Commanders intent

WIPIntent is to neutralise identified AA systems, break through the Northpass corridor, and seize critical industrial infrastructure to deny the enemy freedom of manoeuvre. Success will position our forces forward, disrupt their cohesion, and enable a controlled transition to decisive operations against the final defensive positions in and around Virojoki city and Nakar airfield.
