Situation

Following the limited disruption of SLA operations during OP 02, extremist elements have adjusted their posture across the area of operations. Activity around Prolahti quarry indicates the SLA have transitioned from manoeuvre to consolidation; defensive works have been observed, including field fortifications and prepared fighting positions, suggesting an intent to hold ground rather than withdraw. Movement patterns indicate reinforcements are being funnelled north, with command elements assessed to be prioritising a northern advance over further southern expansion at this time.

Exploitation of intelligence recovered during OP 02 confirms the continued presence of foreign diplomats within the AO. Reporting references two British diplomats believed to be operating in the vicinity of Aarre, with SLA search elements actively deployed across surrounding woodland and rural settlements. Intercepts indicate standing direction for diplomats to be detained alive if located, suggesting their value remains high within SLA command intent.

SLA force generation and logistics activity linked to OBJ Whitehowl suggests a deliberate build-up of supporting assets aimed at enabling a deeper push into Finnish territory. This posture appears intended to generate enough momentum to move ahead of a coordinated response by the Finnish Defence Force (FDF), potentially forcing the FDF to react after the fact rather than prevent the advance. 

Overall, SLA forces retain initiative in selected areas but are increasingly committing to fixed positions and identifiable support nodes, presenting opportunities for disruption if acted upon.

  • CIVPOP in small towns have likely retreated to larger towns and cities for safety. Engagements around this areas should take care to avoid civilian casualties.
  • British mediators in attendance to the conference remain unaccounted for but intelligence suggests they are still alive and weren't caught in the extremist assaults

Commanders intent

Operational intent is to sustain pressure on SLA command and logistics while fixing, engaging, and delaying advancing forces. Viable intelligence regarding the location and status of the British diplomats will be exploited to enable their recovery and achieve a key mission objective. Successful recovery of the diplomats, combined with denial of the SLA advance, will permit a deliberate shift to a more aggressive posture, enabling continued degradation of SLA operational capability and the execution of targeted follow-on operations.
